The school

Vogaskóli, a district school located in Vogahverfi, is part of the Laugardalur and Háaleiti district. It started operations in December 1958, making it one of the older schools in the city. It therefore has a long and significant history. The school is in an established neighborhood, near natural gems such as Laugardalur and Elliðaárdalur. Vogaskóli is a comprehensive primary school with a single-session schedule from 1st to 10th grade. The school has an official specialized division for autism with seven students.
There are about 300 students and 50 staff at the school. The school building is divided into two parts: the older building and the new building. The older building houses students of grades 7-10, a guidance counselor, study center, and the youth center Buskinn. It also offers arts and vocational subjects. In the new building, there are students of grades 1-6, an autism division, information center, music room, home economics, administrators offices, head of office facilities, nurses facilities, cafeteria, coffee room, and dining room. The building for the Vogasel after-school program, for children in grades 1-4 at Vogaskóli, is on the school grounds.

Primary school meals
School meals are free for the 2024-2025 school year. However, the school still needs to track information about allergies and intolerances and limit food waste. Students must register for the school lunch program as before.
Students registered last year will be automatically enrolled. Others need to register. Change the registration at matur.vala.is.

Parent cooperation
We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child. Reykjavík City schools make targeted efforts to consult with and increase parent involvement in school activities. All schools in Reykjavík City have an active parent association.

School rules
Each primary school must set school rules that must be followed. Fossvogsskóli's school rules are divided into ten categories. They apply everywhere students are on behalf of the school.
Evaluation of school activities
The goal of evaluating and monitoring the quality of work is to provide information about school activities, their results and development.
